Palm Sunday Mar 28

What is Palm Sunday?  Palm Sunday is a day where we, Roman Catholics and other Christians celebrate the triumphal entry of our Jesus Christ into Jerusalem before His death and resurrection.  This marks the beginning of Holy Week where we commemorate the His passion and death on the cross and concludes on Easter Sunday, Jesus Christ resurrection.

The Bible reveals that when Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds prepared the way for him and greeted him with waving of palm branches, and by covering his path with palm branches.  Today on a Palm Sunday, we prepare for Jesus Christ’s journey to the cross by waving our palm branches and having it blessed with holy water in the church after hearing the Sunday mass.

Earth Hour Mar 27

March 27, 2010 is the 3rd year since the start of Earth Hour in year 2007.   Today, we joined Ayala Center Cebu as they support the Earth Hour switch off for a brighter world.  We witnessed the countdown to signal the start and the end of the Earth Hour.  Before the countdown started, Ayala Center invited one of the popular band in the Philippines, the Side A band to serenade the people while they also promote their latest album.  During the Earth Hour, there were trivia questions and prizes given out to entertain the people while they wait for the next countdown.  Merchants of Ayala Center and the entire Cebu Holdings together switched off their lights to be one with the entire world.

It was amazing how every nation in this planet Earth joined together in an hour for a common goal, to help save energy, save earth and build a brighter world.  Wouldn’t it also be possible to have world peace?  If people of different cultures and languages could join together in this Earth Hour then i guess, world peace will also be next in line.  Well, it may seem impossible but I still choose to believe that it is still possible. :)

Anyways, here are some documents of how and where we celebrated the Earth Hour 2010!

Fitflop Mar 26

Johanns and I went to Ayala Center this morning to register for the Citirun (a funrun organized by Waterfront Hotel, Cebu) this coming Sunday but unfortunately we were too late ’cause cut off was yesterday.  I guess, we just have to watch them run or run with them at the side of the streets :)

Anyways, since we were not able to register, we just stroll around the mall looking for nothing but then we found ourselves inside R.O.X (Recreational Outdoor eXchange) store and enjoying the 20% discounted prize of all their items.  Imagine that?  All items are discounted?  That doesn’t happen often!   That would be great savings if there are really things you need to get from their store so better grab that chance because the promo only last for today  on their grand opening and everything goes back to it’s original price by tomorrow.  By the way, R.O.X is the biggest outdoor superstore in Southeast Asia.

Since my hubby started running and joining marathons, Active Zone where sports and fitness store are located has always been a part of our itinerary everytime we are in the mall.  My honey has been planning to get for himself a new Columbia sunglasses for his sports activity but it wasn’t available so he ended up buying a Pitman outdoor hat instead.  We were also able to buy an Aerobie Superdisc which I have been eyeing on for months now.   I also like sports and been wanting to play fly discs but found it expensive but this time with its 50% discount it wasn’t too painful for our pockets.   Isn’t that great savings?

So much more about those things, I am actually very excited to share to all of you that I have my very first FitFlop!  Woohooo!  I actually didn’t plan to buy one yet but a 20% discount was so tempting and it was just in time that I also needed the right footwear.  I have been complaining of a painful arch in my right foot and according to the test I took, I needed a stability shoes that would support my arch and help prevent such pain.  So, it got me thinking that this kind of footwear would be of help.  I’ve heard from my grandma, who also has a fitflop, that hers helped relieved her joint pains and her testimony made me think even more.   There I was in Ayala Center walking around confused.  It still took me hours to decide because I really find it expensive for a pair of slippers.   On the other hand, I felt the need of having one and considering of purchasing it now so I would be able to save up several hundreds.   I am not an impulsive buyer.  I want to convince my self more so I wouldn’t regret things after.  So, I went over the benefits of a fitflop slipper and look at people buying it and listened to feedbacks about it just to convince my self that the money I would invest on a pair would be more than worth it.

So, these are the benefits I found out:

  • strengthens and tones muscles in your feet, legs, buttocks, stomach and back
  • absorbs shock on your feet, knees and back
  • tones and trims your thighs, calves and glutes
  • recreates the gait of barefoot walking with a built-in micro-wobbleboard workout-enhancing effect
  • improves balance and posture

After hours of discerning whether I should get one or not and after convincing my self of the benefits I’ll get, I finally bought one courtesy of my honey.  And now, I couldn’t wait for weekend to be able to wear and test it if all those that they said are true. :)   If these benefits will be proven true after several use, I’ll surely blog on this again and recommend it to all of you :)

Take a look on my FitFlop Sequined electra thong

Thank you R.O.X for the great savings we had today and thank you honey for my Sequined electra thong fitflop.  I’m loving it!

Yellow Cab Treat Mar 22

I’m super full!  I just arrive home after a Yellow Cab treat courtesy of one of our Koinonia Group sister in Elim.  We were so hungry that we finished 2 boxes of 18″ Manhattan Meatlovers and Chicken Barbecue Pizza plus Charlie Chan Chicken Pasta.   It was my first time to taste the pasta and I thought I wouldn’t like it because I don’t eat chicken :( but I was wrong, it taste just really great! :) It has a spicy sweet taste with peanut, mushroom and of course chicken on it.  For pasta lovers, Charlie Chan Chicken pasta is a must try!  Their ice cream is also highly recommendable.

I should have pictures of us and the food but too bad I forgot to bring the camera.  Well, next time again :) If there will be another treat…lol

Anyways,  thank you so much Faye for filling our hungry stomachs.  We had a fun fellowship with each other and the food.  May you and your family be blessed even more!

It rained! Mar 21

Wow! Thank God it rained! We had showers in the midnight of March 19 and the following morning. It didn’t take long though but at least it rained and this is something we have to be very thankful of.  It’s a blessing!

Would this mean an end to El Nino?  Will this be the start of the rainy season?  We really do hope rain will start pouring every now and then, not too little or too much but just enough to water the dry lands, just enough to raise the water levels of Magat and Angat dams in Luzon to supply every household with water and just enough to cover up with whatever our country lose due to El Nino phenomenon.

The phenomenon has affected our country so much in many ways and a good amount of rain would mean a lot to all of us who are affected.  So, it is our heart’s cry for rain to come down.  Let it rain!

Unexpected help! Mar 15

It has been more than a month now since we don’t have any helper at home and that brought abrupt change in my daily schedule!  I got busier, responsibilities are piling up and had little time for my self.  I started asking friends around if they knew of somebody who would like to work with us and also tried asking agencies for possible helpers but there was nobody.  I have to patiently wait and convince my self to enjoy every chore at hand.  Then, suddenly I received an unexpected text from an unknown number and found out it was from a distant relative, my aunt.  She told me her younger sister is looking for a job and asked me if I’ll be needing some help at home.  I said to myself, yeah! I badly need some help. I told my aunt that I’ll give her a call within the day because I’ll first have to ask the opinion of my family if it would be alright with them.  Of course, we have to consider additional expenses because she will be a stay-in helper.  So, without so much talk, my husband and my family agreed that we’ll take that help. Today, she’s with us and it’s her first day of work.

Whew!  God really works in amazing ways!   He exactly knew what I am going through and at the time I surrendered this concern to Him it was then when unexpected help came and it came fast.  Others may just see this story ordinarily or just a coincidence but for me, I see all this as God’s blessing… His way of encouraging me that He knew the secret petitions of my heart and that He just wanted to bless me.  Once again, thank you Lord!

Too Busy… Mar 12

It’s been awhile since I wasn’t able to update my blog.  I don’t have a single post for a week! grrr :(    There’s just too much work to do in a short period of time!  Plus, without any helper at home is an additional load.  How I wish we’ll have more than 24 hours in a day…wishful thinking :)   Hope I will be able to catch up really soon.  Anyways, in the midst of a busy schedule there are still a lot of things to be thankful for.  Just have to double my time to post them all.  Keep posted! :)

Birthday Outing Mar 06

As I turned 33 last February 27, I couldn’t help but continuously thank God for the countless blessings He has been pouring and will still be pouring in my life.  Today, I will start counting back again all those blessings…small and big, ordinary, extraordinary and spectacular, known and unknown and many more!

Now, I would like to start off by thanking Him for my birthday celebration at Portofino beach.  After hearing mass we started off early to the beach.  With us are my  sister, my cousin and his girlfriend, my dearest friend Carmel, my sister’s co-teacher Cindy, my cousins friend Jojit, and of course Bubbles.  We didn’t invite more because we actually didn’t prepare much.   By the way, after 32 years, my 33rd birthday was the first time ever that I received 3 different birthday cakes from 3 different persons and from my 3 favorite bakeshops in Cebu  (lots of number 3 huh!).  I had carrot cake from Leona’s bakeshop given by my cousin, Junco.  A chocolate cake from Angelica’s bakeshop given by my friend, ate Emmalyn.  A honey custard cake from Red Ribbon from my everdearest honey, Johanns which he gave to me on the midnight of Feb. 26.   We brought one of the cakes at the beach and the boys cooked some of our viand while us girls just ate.  It was totally a great day!  We all had so much fun eating, talking and laughing .  It was a perfect sunny day for a beach outing and everyone just made me feel so special.

just us :)

A million thanks to all of you who offered a special prayer for me, to my food sponsors, to everyone who greeted me by phone call and text, to those who greeted through my blog and facebook and to all of you who remembered my birthday….thank you so much!  May you all be blessed a hundred fold!

Sony PSP 3000 Mar 01

After two years of waiting my honey finally got his PSP 3000 (PlayStation Portable).  He has been convincing me to agree with him to buy one but I was firm to say ‘No’ to him for reasons that it’s not a need and it’s not even a priority in our “wants list.”  I also don’t want that he’ll get hook to it.  Then, just recently my cousin came home from USA and was persuading us to buy his PSP 3000 half the selling price here in the Philippines.   At first, I was so sure in saying ‘no’ to him until I came to a point of asking my hubby what are the advantages of having one and he told me all the specs that PSP 3000 has and that quite convinced me.  I also did a research to find out more and learned that PSP 3000 is not only Slim&Lite, but this is also a newer version which has a built-in-microphone and a better screen that is able to resist glare, so it will be better outdoors.   It is not only a gaming system but also allow us to listen to music, watch movies, view photos, access the Internet and more and all these convinced me even more to say ‘yes’ to my honey.  So, as a reward for my honey’s patience, finally  I said ‘yes’ for a PSP 3000 Piano Black.  We bought it half the price and with extra bonuses of a 4 GB and 8 GB Sony Memory Stick Duo and a case.  Isn’t that a great blessing? :)
